The ancient Village of Kamru
Situated in the picturesque Kinnaur district, the ancient village of Kamru rests at an elevation of approximately 2800 meters above sea level. Kamru, originally serving as the seat of power for the Bushahr dynasty, witnessed the subsequent relocation of the capital to Sarahan and then Rampur, where the final ruler, Padam Singh, held his throne. Kamru proudly showcases the remarkable cultural heritage and architectural splendor of the region, standing as a testament to its bygone era. With a history spanning several centuries, Kamru village has admirably preserved its timeless allure, providing visitors with a captivating glimpse into the past.
Perched atop Kamru village at an altitude of 2900 meters above sea level, the awe-inspiring Kamru Fort is a magnificent example of Pahari architecture, boasting seven stories (with the foundation comprising the lower two stories). Within the fort premises lies an idol of Goddess Kamakhya, believed to have been brought from Guwahati, Assam. Additionally, a temple dedicated to Kamakhya Devi can be found within the fort, adding to its grandeur.
Sangla Village
Sangla Village, nestled in the Kinnaur district, is a captivating destination known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. One of the prominent attractions in Sangla is the revered Bering Nag Temple, a local temple that holds religious significance for the residents. The village is also a significant stopover for trekkers embarking on the Rupin Pass trek, with the renowned Sangla Kanda situated en route. The Sangla Kanda offers stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains, lush valleys, and cascading streams, making it a favorite among nature enthusiasts. Chitkul - The last Village
Situated 24 kilometers away from the property, Chitkul stands as the final village within the captivating Baspa Valley, with Tibet lying beyond its borders. Notably, it is the last inhabited village in close proximity to the Indo-Tibetan border. Chitkul is renowned for its association with the esteemed Charang La Pass, reaching an impressive altitude of 5242 meters. Positioned at an elevation of 3450 meters above sea level, the village of Chitkul rests alongside the picturesque Baspa River. Chitkul holds the distinction of being the starting point for two well-known treks: the Lamkhaga Pass trek and the Borasu Pass trek. Both of these treks guide adventurers towards the stunning landscapes of Uttarakhand.
Rakchham
Located at mere 16 kilometers from the property, the village of Rakchham unveils its breathtaking beauty and captivates visitors with its mesmerizing charm. The Rakchham meadows, in particular, leave an indelible mark on one’s mind, creating memories that transport one to a place of pure joy. These lush green meadows, adorned with meandering streams flowing, are interwoven with clusters of coniferous trees that stand as guardians of the meadow. The meadows are embraced by towering snow-covered peaks, painting a picture reminiscent of a heavenly realm.
